Tesla has officially opened a significant portion of what is slated to become the world's largest Supercharger station in Lost Hills, California. The new facility, located at 22422 Highway 46 along the busy Interstate 5 corridor, commenced operations with 84 Supercharger stalls just before the Fourth of July travel weekend. An additional 84 stalls are planned to open later this year, bringing the total to 168.

The "Oasis" Supercharger is distinguished by its robust renewable energy infrastructure. It features 11 megawatts of solar power generated from ground-mounted panels and canopies spanning 30 acres. This extensive solar array is complemented by 10 Tesla Megapacks, providing a substantial 39 MWh of battery storage capacity.

Notably, the initial 84 operational stalls are currently running entirely off-grid, powered solely by the sun and stored energy, with only a minimal 1.5 MW grid connection. This capability underscores Tesla's long-term vision for energy-independent charging solutions and enhances grid resilience. The station also includes 12 pull-through stalls designed to accommodate vehicles towing trailers.

The project, which took approximately eight months to construct, represents a major step in Tesla's commitment to expanding its global charging network with sustainable practices. This development comes as Tesla continues to grow its Supercharger footprint, having recently surpassed 70,000 stalls worldwide, reinforcing its position in the electric vehicle charging landscape. The remaining stalls and a dedicated lounge for drivers are expected to be fully operational before the end of the year.
