World, the organization behind the World App and World ID, has officially launched "World Build 2," a new developer program aimed at accelerating the creation and scaling of Mini Apps on its platform. The initiative, announced via a tweet stating, > "Calling all developers: World Build 2 is live. Build Mini Apps and scale fast on the real human network," underscores the company's commitment to expanding its ecosystem.

The World Network, managed by the World Foundation and Tools For Humanity, is known for its unique eye-scanning Orb technology designed to verify human accounts and combat bot activity, forming its "real human network." This developer program seeks to leverage this verified user base to foster rapid growth for new applications. The first World Build event ran from February to May 2025, setting a precedent for this new iteration.

World Build 2 offers significant incentives for developers, including up to $200,000 in grant awards from the World Foundation. The program features an online hackathon, with applications open through September 24, 2025, and includes fully funded trips to Buenos Aires and San Francisco for hackathon winners and top projects. These opportunities are designed to provide both financial support and direct engagement with the World ecosystem.

The World App has already demonstrated substantial reach, boasting over 30 million users globally, with more than 10 million downloads on Android alone. There are currently over 300 Mini Apps integrated within the World mobile application, which have collectively attracted approximately $12 million in venture capital funding. The World Foundation has also previously offered $1 million worth of WLD tokens to developers who successfully launched apps with over 10,000 verified human users by May 16, 2025.

The strategic focus for World Foundation and Tools For Humanity remains on platform growth and user adoption, rather than immediate monetization. This push for expansion is supported by a recent $135 million funding round in August 2025, secured from major investors like a16z and Bain Capital Crypto. The World App operates on the World Network blockchain, built on Ethereum via the Optimism Superchain, facilitating a robust and scalable environment for Mini App development.
