Tofino Resort + Marina Offers Remote Floating Sauna Experience for $900 in Clayoquot Sound

Tofino, British Columbia – A unique wood-fired floating sauna and hot tub experience, located in a remote sound, has been identified as an offering from Tofino Resort + Marina in Clayoquot Sound. The distinctive wellness retreat, which has garnered attention on social media, allows guests to immerse themselves in nature. As noted by Tren Griffin in a recent tweet, "This floating wood fired sauna and hot tub in the middle of a remote sound is pretty good."

The floating sauna, launched in early 2022, is situated deep within a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve on the traditional territory of the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation. This secluded location, approximately a 30-minute boat ride from Tofino, offers guests an escape from modern distractions. The experience emphasizes disconnection, with no Wi-Fi or cell service available on the dock.

Guests can relax in the wood-fired cedar sauna, crafted by Vancouver Island's Aux Box, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows that provide panoramic views of the surrounding wilderness. The experience includes cold plunges into the Pacific Ocean, warming up by an outdoor fire pit, and access to amenities like hammocks, paddleboards, and kayaks. The Harvia GreenFlame wood-burning heater ensures an environmentally conscious operation.

Booking options include private charters, typically priced around $900 for a group of four, with capacity for up to 12 guests at an additional cost. Tofino Resort + Marina also introduced a "Community Floating Sauna Experience" for Tofino and Ucluelet residents, offering per-seat bookings at $179, requiring proof of residency and a minimum of four participants.

Christopher Fehr, general manager of Tofino Resort + Marina, stated, "We wanted to create an opportunity to bring the feeling of remoteness within reach for our guests." This initiative aims to provide a blend of wellness and wilderness, allowing visitors to reconnect with nature in a serene and spectacular setting. The resort ensures that a guide remains nearby via radio for any assistance, even as guests enjoy privacy on the floating platform.
